Bookwalter awarded commission for NEA funded project

Collaborators Denise Bookwalter of Florida State University and Small Craft Advisory Press and Meg Mitchell of University of Wisconsin-Madison were recently awarded a commission from The Center for Book and Paper Arts, a program of the Interdisciplinary Arts Department at Columbia College Chicago. The award came from the center’s new electronic publishing initiative, Expanded Artists’ Books, and is supported by an Arts in Media grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Bookwalter and Mitchell will work together over the next year to complete Rain/fall, an environmentally-driven project which will mobilize online weather data as a way to “enable us to experience the world from new perspectives.” The work will be published by the Center for Book and Paper Arts in December of 2013.
