Sara White, 2015-2016 Resident Artist

Sara White makes artist’s books under the imprint Alluvium Press, named for the sediment shaped and carried by rivers. Her upbringing near the border of Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas contributes to a fascination with in-between places and hidden landscapes/histories, which she often weaves into her creative work. Sara developed an enthusiasm for letterpress printing and bookmaking while completing a BFA in studio art at Loyola University New Orleans in 2007. She continued pursuing book arts beyond college through workshops, apprenticeships and employment in letterpress shops in Asheville, NC and New Orleans. She began her MFA candidacy in Book Arts at The University of Alabama in 2013. Sara is thrilled to teach the Structural Book course at FSU while printing and binding her thesis project at SCAP in the next year.
