Music for Teacups at 621 Gallery

Melissa Haviland & David Colagiovanni will present their shattering exhibition ‘Music for Teacups’ on Friday, February 1, 2013 at Tallahassee’s 621 Gallery from 6-9PM. The exhibition will include the artists’ book they created with SCAP in in the spring of 2012, the video ‘Music for Teacups’ in which teacups break, bounce, shatter and twirl in a magnificent ballet of image and sound, and will feature a new performance ‘For Best’ in which the two will attempt to balance six sets of fine bone china on their heads while walking atop a balance beam.

Since its creation at SCAP in 2012, Music for Teacups has been in several exhibitions including Book + Art: A Reading Room (Denison Museum, Granville, OH), In, On, Out of Paper  (Paper Circle, Nelsonville, OH), and The Illustrated Accordion (Kalamazoo Book Arts Center, Kalamazoo, MI).

Haviland & Colagiovanni live and work in Ohio, USA. Their work explores class, etiquette, and heritage across a range of media including video, sound, printmaking, and artist books. For more information about their work visit melissahaviland.com and colagiovanni.net.
